Walking Dead -- How I got it to work

Hello, many people have had crashes when attempting to play this game. The symptom seen is when clicking play, you get a crash in walkingdead101.exe.

There are two main fixes that seem to be working for people.

1) find your walkingdead101.exe executable in someplace like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the walking dead

Right click the executable and select compatability tab up top.
Click checkbox for "run this program in compatability mode for"
and pulldown menu for Windows 98. ALso check run as administrator.

This didn't help me but the next one did:

2) Disable your internet network in some way before starting the game.

Sounds like it wouldn't help but it let me run the game without issue.

I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 Pro and I can confirm that the only way I can get WalkingDead101.exe to launch is with Windows 98/ME compatibility mode. There are still a lot of people out there who can't get it to launch even with these "fixes". I played all the way through the first episode and it stutters a bit, but otherwise works. I hope Telltale fixes this pronto.

This thread helped me find others with this problem.

Yup, setting the launcher to compatibility mode 98/me did the trick for me, many thanks!

Episodes 1 and 2 worked fine but Ep 3 didn't work. Setting compatibility mode to 98/me and Run as Administrator worked for me. Thank you!
