No audio in Gothic 1 (Vista 32 bit)
So i bought the bundle and have been looking forward to playing this series. At first I was getting the UNHANDLED EXCEPTION error but disabling the Steam overlay for the game ans setting the .exe to run in XP compatibility mode seemed to work for me and the game runs now.
BUT I have no sound. No audio of any kind, music or sound effects. I am running Vista 32 bit with a built-in high definition audio device in the motherboard (no dedicated sound card.) Anyone else having this issue and/or figured out how to fix it? Thanks. *EDIT* Never mind. I'm an idiot. Last edited by udderjuice: 04-14-2012 at 09:44 AM. |

The audio issue under Windows Vista is solved with Service Pack 2, so go ahead and update!
If you can't update to Service Pack 2 and are stuck with Service Pack 1 for whatever reasion, there exist a fix which requires you to install the Player Kit and then the fix. Please note that this only fixes the background music, let's hope the sound effects are working normal for you. |
