mountappfilesystem() failed: Help please.

MountAppFilesystem() failed:
SteamMountAppFilesystem(440,0,0xe43fd24) failed with error 1: No default filesystem for this App

What can I do to fix this? When I open Team Fortress 2 and get this error, I got this after I moved the file onto my hard drive to put on my laptop.

Any help will be good thanks

Could you explain this bit a little more? Which "file" did you move and where did you put it?

I moved the files in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\alexmck\team fortress 2

into the same folder on my laptop.

Ok, so you wanted to move Team Fortress 2 from a different computer to your laptop.
You then moved the "team fortress 2" directory under the username folder to the same directory on your laptop.

Did you, however, also move the 3 Team Fortress 2 GCF files located in the "steamapps" folder onto the laptop as well? These 3 files are also required to run the game.

Also, follow the instructions in this Support article. Verify the files for TF2.
