How do I stop TF2 from validating...

Each time I turn on my PC TF2 has to validate its files. I tried doing what steam support recommends: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...2971-RUAG-7390

It still didn't work...

So will I have to download it and re-install it all over again?

That's what finally fixed it for me. And believe me, I tried everything.

That doesn't work, I've tried it as well.

As far as I know it was some kind of bug introduced in the MVM update that only affects some of us.

YOU CAN'T. Surprise!

People have been complaining about this for months, no one at Valve cares.

Contribute to this other thread, maybe someone will finally pay attention:

This happens to me frequently. Right click on TF2 in your library and defrag the cache. Doing this usually helps.

Try defragging, letting it finish, then restart steam.

exit steam
go to the steam folder
delete the 2 .blob files
log into steam
validate and defrag for last time.

I have three.
AppUpdatesStats.blob
ClientRegistry.blob
ClientRegistry-corrupted.blob

Which should I delete?

All of them All 3 since you have a renamed one.

Delete everything in your steam folder except for steam.exe and the steamapps folder, and restart steam.

And make sure you disable steam automatically starting each time you turn your PC on - some people have had luck with this.
