This is how to fix the problem on OS X Lion.
I do not know why it occurs but I do know how to fix it, I suffered without steam for a month and a half before finding the solution. 1.With finder selected, in the menu bar select Go/Go to folder... or press shift-command-g. 2.In the box that opens, paste this: "~/Library/Application Support/Steam" 3.Open steam, steam will either open immediately or take a few moments to update. (Steam may also open in offline mode, if this happens simply go to account, then select 'Go Online'. 4. Profit!!! |

You opened Finder, looked at the Steam directory inside of ~/Lib/AppSup. Got ya so far. Give me a little more context on 'open steam'. Are you saying that window had a steam icon in it? Or you independently opened steam and for some reason having that finder window opened made it work? If it's the first item - do you have any idea why there is a 'steam' in your lib/appsup/steam folder? That's not quite normal. |
