Question about rep

A recent development: I scrapbank, and a couple people who've used my services have asked for rep, which I declined on the grounds that you using my scrapbank services isn't exactly a trade worth repping and I take the rep system a little more seriously than that.

Am I being overly harsh/serious, or does that sound reasonable?

You Monster! But no really, just say you'll rep them if they rep you. Sure scrap bank is a small trade, but then you'd have plenty of rep for the real trades.

I never rep anyone that directly asks for it, even on large trades. If you got a fair price, they weren't a nightmare to deal with AND they don't ask for rep, that's when you should give it. I always leave a description of the trade with rep as well. +rep doesn't really tell you much.

It's entirely up to you. I don't really think it's all that important.

Perhaps if you're dealing with unusual/promos, especially if it's through paypal, then I could certainly see that it would be nice to have some rep to go by.

Personally I don't see the point of trade +repping at all. I just can't stand seeing "+rep, good trader blabla". A quick profile check via SteamRep.com is enough (and more reliable) to determine, if the trader is legit or not.

Disagree. Yes, rep with no/little deatils can be unhelpful, but if theres a large maount over a nice long period of time, it's still useful.

That truly depends on the standards you have. Some people don't use the rep system, some people rep everything in their way. Personally, if they're polite, preferably quick, and have a good price, I rep those up.

Not that many people cares about the posts saying rep on your profile.

I've seen many scammers with pages of +rep comments.

Some people use rep as a gauge of trustworthiness on these here forums.

Meh. You not repping someone for using your service seems fine. But rep isn't anything serious.
