Section 8 GFWL Update Loop

Hi Guys,

I purchased Section 8 for the PC via the steam yesterday. I unfortunately havent been able to play as I can't get passed the Games For Windows Live log in screen.

I have an existing Live log in when prompted the game then proceeds to download my profile then it says it is going to update GFWL which is duly does. It prompts me to close the game and restart it which i do but then it goes straight back to logging in and proceeds to update again.

I have tried the following in all the various different orders conceivable!

1. Unistalled GFWL and manually installed the latest version from the Microsoft website.
2. Uninstalled the game and redownload.
3. Disabled firewall and antivirus.
4. rebooted after every step above.

I really don't know where to go from here so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am running a Windows 7 - 32 bit system.
Please help this is driving me insane!!!!

My GWFL updated successfully, strange that it does not for you.

After you close the game, is there an windows installer window whatever popping up? Because the update won't be installed magically as soon as you close the game.

So maybe the installer isn't actually starting after you close the game and as soon as you run it again it still isn't updated so GFWL starts from the beginning.

But beside my wild assumptions I sadly can't help you.

Thanks for the response, I've checked and the installer launches but it closes after a couple of seconds and doesn't actually run. Any ideas what is causing the installer to not run?

If you have any software like hamachi tunngle or logmein, try uninstalling them. For some dumb reason GFWL tries to connect to a vpn network with those programms installed.

I don't run any of those programmes but thanks for the suggestion. Damn this is frustrating! The GFWL website is a total waste of time and nobody on the developers website seems to know the answer either ARGH!

Hope I'm not digging up an old thread, but I have this exact issue..

Did you ever resolve it?

I've tried
1) making sure every Windows update is up to date and installed
2) running the exe directly as admin and in Win XP compat mode,
3) Running Steam in Admin mode
4) Installing the live update separately (even fully updated, it still runs the older one from in the game)
5) Opening various ports on my router for Win Live
