Good find!

Hopefully it's not just a rhetorical remark. Or, I hope they're talking about the near term!

In addition to Steam, there is Source, our own state-of-the-art game engine. Its sophisticated character animation, advanced AI, real-world physics, shader-based rendering, and super extensibility have helped us create some of the most popular and good-looking games on the market for computer and consoles. We don’t like to brag, but Source is considered the most flexible, comprehensive, and powerful game development environment out there. And it’s about to get even better.
I wonder if they mean Portal 1 to Portal 2 better, or circa 2004 better?

I'm guessing more like the jump from HL1 to HL2 (Source is a heavily modified GoldSrc engine, am I right?). At least I'm hoping for that. Yet Gabe has repeatedly said they're not working on Source 2.

I want to see how CS:GO will look like. This pretty much confirms they are make the Source Engine much better to improve the eyesore of a game that is CSS.

Wasn't an eyesore when it came out in 2004.

Anyway, CS has never been about graphics, its about the gameplay.

I think this could be related to the better map editor etc that they were talking about.

I hope so too, Portal 2 looked nice with the repulsion gel and the shadow effects, but I'm hoping something with a bigger scale of innovation. But I imagine this isn't what the page is about, its probably an SDK update.

Your probably right, an improved SDK has been asked about quite a bit. I think they meant that its going to become even more flexible.

For the Portal 2 DLC right? That's what I was thinking.

I find myself wondering if Valve's statement means a project that's about to be started or about to be implemented.

keep telling yah, dx8 has just dropped off, as eric said they got a core team of 30.
That's more than what the probably had making the engine in the first place.

I can only get excited at this point.......
Don't start fantasizing Boff, if eveyone has been stating ep3 comes out next year, then I myself have predicted the hdr update for HL2 and aweseome shadowing in the engine is always coming out "next year" since 2005 for me.
