Question Steam error "Failed to download platform configuration data".

When I try to launch steam I get a message saying steam error "Failed to download platform configuration data". I found an old thread with this problem but the solution there didn't work for me. I also tried uninstalling and reistalling steam completely still I cannot get passed this error. Please help, Thank you

I have found a work around for this issue as I have been trying frantically myself for a few days to come up with a solution.

To fix this issue, login with another account and then back to your account worked for me.

But if it does not work, the only other work around that I have tried is also deleting the .blob files and then creating a new account in steam. After you login into the account and get to the Steam UI, Switch User and use your account.

This might be a bug with Steam Guard or communication with the servers retrieving your account data.

I have had two other users confirm that launching Steam with the "-tcp" parameter fixed this issue for them.

Here's the original thread.
